Nicole Spearman
Nicole Spearman is an incest survivor, advocate for victims of domestic violence, full-spectrum doula, published author, and a current student studying environmental science at Hudson County Community College. She is most passionate about volunteering at the Hoboken homeless shelter during her scarce free time and also providing services to GHMC to help those affected by HIV/AIDS. Although she has recently been diagnosed with 6 disabilities, that does not stop her from being the kindness and love that the world needs. As a black girl from College Park, Georgia, she grew up without hope of ever finishing high school due to having a sick mother and an absent father. Even after the murder of her brother, Sidney, she struggled with ever seeing joy again. Despite her struggles, she was able to graduate from Princeton’s TSI program and has just finished up the LDEO program at Columbia University. She refuses to give up in a world that tries to keep her down. A token to her resilience is the publication of her first book named “If Only My Eyes Could Speak” that won Dan Poynter’s 2020 Legacy award.
